Why Peru?

This September I will be quitting my surprisingly enjoyable job, putting my meager posessions into storage, loading a pack with the bare necessities, and traveling 3500 miles away to Peru, South America. Sound crazy to you? I agree, I think I’m nuts, but we probably already knew this, didn’t we.

Here’s the short version as to why I am going:

1. get away from civilization and the computer for awhile
2. learn how to grow things myself
3. learn more espanol
4. ride a horse into the sunset
5. help my buddy Paul accomplish some good things for several villages in the highlands of Peru.

I will be mainly in the south central area of Peru quite near the famous ruins of Machu Picchu. You can see where that’s at by typing into Google Earth: Abancay, Peru. We will also try and see some other parts of South America – Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and beyond. Consider it a latin Where’s Waldo game.

Hope you all can follow along this fall.
